Disposal of out of date flares.
The Government web site is very strong on what a boat owner must not do with out of date flares but is very weak on how to dispose of them legally. In our area Salcombe Boat Store will take time expired flares with a charge of £2 per flare. Force 4 might take them if it can be shown that they were purchased from them. I have been informed that, if you buy new flares from Darthaven Marina, they will accept your time expired ones. There do not appear to be any alternatives to these three locally. One committee member has offered to take the matter up with our MP.
Looking forward to seeing many of you again soon,
Tony Watson
